Senator Josh McKoon

Senator Josh McKoon, a Republican from Columbus, was first elected to the state Senate in 2010 for the 2011- 2012 legislative term. Senator McKoon is the Chair of the Judiciary Committee and is also a member of the Higher Education and Insurance and Labor committees. He serves as the Secretary of Regulated Industries and Utilities Committee and an ex-officio member of the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee. Senator McKoon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University in 2001 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2003. Senator McKoon currently works as an attorney for Crowley/McKoon. In his work in the Senate, Sen. McKoon has earned the Consumer Champion Award from Georgia Watch and the Clean Water Champion Award from the Georgia Water Coalition. In 2013, Sen. McKoon was named an “On the Rise Attorney” by the Daily Report, an award given to up-and-coming lawyers under the age of 40 and a recipient of the inaugural “40 Under 40” Award by Maverick PAC, a conservative political action committee. He also earned an A+ from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He was also named to Leadership Georgia’s Class of 2014. Senator McKoon serves on the board of directors for the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, the Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court, Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Greater Columbus, and the Urban League of Greater Columbus. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Columbus, the State Bar of Georgia, the Alabama State Bar, and the Knights of Columbus Council #1019 at St. Anne Church, where he regularly attends services.
